@Paul Sumner -if your I/M is secured to the left wall with two screws, heater could be”open”. Youteat with a multimeter set for ohms. That symbol looks like an upside down U. Remove the i/m, remove the i/m head and you’ll see the heater terminals. You checking for continuity to determine if the element is open or close. It should be closed and your meter should show show a change. If it’s open the meter would show a change. There is also a thermostat, round disk type, that opens and closes with temperature.

Paul Sumner - if your I/M is attached to the ceiling and you have a tab to pushto reassert to remove it, you must be very careful of the refrigerant line that loops inside the I/m. Don’t force the i/m. This style I/Mis a problem. Samsung is in trouble for this. The best way to test this is to press the reset button on the right side of I/m head for about 10 seconds. It should advance. If nothing happens push reset again. If atilll nothing replace the ice maker. I don recommend repairing. In fact, I don’t think you can get parts for this one. Be sure to register your refrigerator through Samsung and save receipts. I hope this helps you.
