I have a French door bottom drawer ice maker. Accidentally left the freezer drawer open a crack one night and magically the drawer ice maker started working again. Stopped making ice after a few months, so I took everything out of the freezer and left it open a crack when I go to bed. In the morning, I push the reset on the bottom of the ice maker until I hear the ding sound and it works for a while. Is this process bad for the freezer or fridge?

Dave Castonguay, leaving the door open a crack would allow warm air in the freezer. When warm and cold air meet we get condensation. Frost will form inside the freezer and on the evaporator fan blades and everywhere else. Once you close the door eventually the frost will thaw. Only problem would be if the frost was too thick to allow the door to shut properly.
I can not see how this would cause the icemaker to start working. The problem with the ice maker is either a bad thermostat in the ice maker. Or, a gear in the ice maker is damaged. Pressing the reset will advance the timer gear enough for it to cycle. Sometimes it will continue to cycle awhile. A lot of people will push the reset button instead of buy an ice maker. Neither should harm the refrigerator.

The bottom I/M works great but after a couple of weeks a little water starts coming out from under the fridge. If I turn to ice off the water stops. I don’t even bother with the upper I/M too much trouble.

Samsung French Door Refrigerator- RFS267AARSXAA- due to other issues - I have replaced the water inlet valve and ice chute gasket - those problems solved. Also, made sure that everything was cleaned out from back of refrigerator. When I put the ice maker back in it will fill and freeze the ice but will not dump it. If I disconnect the plug-in for the ice maker it will dump and refill within a few minutes. It’s not the ice maker because I bought a new one and same problem. It just won’t dump.
