It has sound but a black screen.
I have a Vizio 70” E700i-B3. It has sound but a black screen. I’m not sure how well my torch test has been but other than some ghost-like flashes when all the lights are out in the house I don’t see anything on the screen. The Vizio support hotline said it has to be the backlight, which Vizio itself doesn’t stock, but I can’t find a part called “backlight” on part supplies sites. What are the possible causes? I see T-Con boards, power supply boards and main boards. Is there another name for a backlight? Is it the backlight if I don’t see anything on the screen with a torchlight?
On closer examination, it is the backlight. I do see a faint video if flood the screen with a flashlight. So, what is really the backlight? Is there a part called "backlight"? Is it actually a light? Is it a set of strips? Is it a single board? What exactly is it and are there any instruction videos for how to replace it? I have seen videos for replacing the main board, the power supply unit and the T-Con board and they look perfectly doable. I want to know if the same thing is true of this backlight part. Thanks in advance.
