I have a core duo macbook that i'm working on the when the power button is pressed the screen flickers really bright and then it will go to load the os, no more flickering once it loads to the os, what's this a sign of ? None of the other macbooks will do this that I have?

What's the possibility that it could be the video cable or the chip used to control the video ? I'm getting kernal panics when I put it all back together i'm trying to diagnose exactly where the problem lies when i have it semi put back together it works I"m also constantly swapping one sata hard drive that I keep in a good mac to test it out I don't know if that's bad or not but now the hard drive needs minor repair it says.
