Why can’t I adjust the volume from the speaker and only from my phone?

My speaker has recently stopped turning off using the power button (but will turn on). I have to press the four other buttons at once for it to turn off. Additionally, while it is connected to my phone I can only adjust the volume from my phone. This was not previously an issue. Finally, it used to automatically connect to my phone when it turns on but now I have to do so manually. Any ideas what could have happened? It also won’t “reset” using the instructions I’ve found elsewhere (holding down the play/pause and Vol+ at same time… I think I’ve tried that and play/pause with the Bluetooth connect button - neither has worked).
