What size alternator diode for '80 XS850 Special?
Need to replace crumbled unreadable diode between alternator and headlight relay switch on 1980 XS850 Special. Original is odd form factor, slim not much bigger than the wire but 3-4 times longer than most diodes I've seen.
Any idea what the original diode number/voltage rating and amp rating might have been, or what it would need in that application?
Here's a link to a wiring diagram if that helps. It's the small reddish rectangle almost in the center of the page, on the white wire connecting the alternator (lower right) to the headlight relay (upper left). It looks like a straight shot from alternator to relay bypassing the rectifier/regulator if that makes a difference. Thanks!
