left joycon will not dock, can only use wirelessly

Left joycon will only work wirelessly. When left joycon is attached to the switch it is not recognized as docked but does charge the joycon. I tried all the quick fix hacks I could find on YouTube and none of those worked. I have also tried the switch with a brand new pair of joycons so the joycon is not the problem. I have now also replaced the switch’s left rail but that did not fix the problem. Any other ideas about what the problem could be? Thanks in advance!
