Shuts off when I go forward but runs in reverse

I have a Troy built pony. Idles fine, will run while in reverse. But as soon as I try to go forward it shuts the engine off…..

troybilt.com has owners manuals on line that contain the procedure to test the functionality of the interlocks (page 11). There are three tests that will tell you if the problem lies with the safety interlock circuits. Post the results here and maybe someone can tell you what it means.
