i7 7700K CPU 4.2 GHz

I know that the i7 7700K CPU is now obsolete, but I’ve found one and ordered it! It costs $642 which I think is expensive, especially as it’s gone out of production, but it’s the only i7 that my iMac can be upgraded with, so here goes…

Thats way to high! You can find them for less! Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz LGA and I know that’s still also on the high side.

@aprstudios - Make sure you align the chip correctly and when you tighten the heat sink down treat it like how you tighten the lug nuts of your cars tires! Are you tightening your lug-nuts in the proper way? Of course we don't need an impact wench! But we do need to be careful we don't over tighten the screws. As an example AMD ships a special tool with there Threadripper chip as its a big issue Ryzen Threadripper tool

You'll also need to use care applying the new thermal paste. As you only need a little! You want just enough to cover the die cover, you don't want it leaking over the sides.
