Quits applications and goes to login screen, and does this repeatedly

This Mbp for reasons beyond my current understanding suddenly quits a given application and goes to login screen. There I can log back in, but these unscheduled semi shut down are not right. It is reminds me of a kernel panic, only that it does not shut down all the way, but just goes to login screen… It was also revving fans, but that I fixed with fresh Arctic Thermal paste MX2, and it is much happier in that department now…Also I removed “clean my mac” and shut off some other plug-ins I suspected to be troublesome , such as Dashlane, which seemed to take a lot of resources in Activity monitor. Any clues anyone on the unscheduled returns to Login screen? Just did a PRAM reset and for now it seems OK while installing updates….but any clues are still welcome..Thanks , Jurgen

What is the drive Toshiba or Samsung?

完成的

Hi Dan, the drive is called Apple SSD SD512E in system report, and is actually a San Disc 512B ORBTS 655-1801.

Were there any known issues with Toshiba , Samsung or San Disc which would cause the login screen phenomena?

完成的

Apple had a recall on the Toshiba drives used in both MacBook Air and MacBook Pro systems.

"Certain" 64GB and 128GB flash storage drives "may fail" they had a recall which is now ended.

Thank you Dan, well this one being a San Disc 512, it is not on the recall list then…Maybe it just needed the PRAM reset after having some overheat issues because of old thermal paste…? Since the PRAM reset, and the deletion of hyper active “protection software” it seems to behave itself…But if there are other possible causes for going to login screen, I would sure like to know…

OK, so I tested the machine again regarding the unscheduled returns to login screen from, for instance a Safari browser website display, and noticed that together with this phenomena it also leave a vague image of the last site I was on on the blank desktop screen...fading slowly after about a minute or so. Now I am really stumped. Mind you, most people have a desktop image and might not notice such a lingering image slowly fading away, but this friend just has a homogeneous blue background and it is quite noticeable...Is this normal, and if not, what might cause it..and the return to login...still..every now and then..

Ok, badda-frekkin-bing, as some would say. The random return to login screen was not as random as it appeared. Those returns were caused by dragging finger over the trackpad and causing the curser to go to the top left corner, where it triggered the return to login page. And that was so, because under Mission Control “Hot corners”were enabled for reasons unknown. Upon disabling this function, the problem was solved.

Thank you for sharing a solution to this problem, because I was also looking for a way to fix this feature. So I am grateful for your feedback. I can say that this caused difficulties in my work, so I thought that I would have to hire a specialist to solve it. But first I decided to look for an answer on the forums, and I did the right thing. By the way, I have a question. Where do you get apps? I found a service on https://apksalad.com/en and found some free apps there that are paid on other platforms. I want to download a couple of apps from them to check how it works. If you have any suggestions, please share them.
