My CN503B - Has an 'Error', PC can't communicate with printer

When I boot the PC the ‘wireless’ light and control panel on my HP Photosmart Premium c310a does not activate, Windows 10 recognises that the printer is present but has a status of ‘error’. I have tried the HP Print & Scan Doctor 5.3.1 but this presents the following message ‘Your printer appears to have a serious issue. Click ‘Other’ support options or ‘Next’ to continue. Neither of these options offer anything more helpful.

I guess this is a terminal hardware error of some description but I’m not sure how to prove it, any ideas guys?

@ceedot ……typically, an error would be caused by either ink being out in one or many cartridges, print spooler needing to be cleared, paper jam or something physical with the machine. An error regarding communication is typically cause by a vpn setting, a network discovery setting, or port/driver issue caused usually when someone switches from wired to wireless without reinstalling or switching settings.

as far as the hardware side goes, you could access your toner cartridges and see if they are empty, everything you have done via software and troubleshooting should have cleared the print spooler and a paper jam would be obvious.

as far as the connectivity, you could try to uninstall the device by going into your windows settings/devices/printers and scanners and uninstall the device. reinstalling would correct the driver and port issues.

of course, this is all generic and experience driven as i dont have much to go off of. ihave you tried to install wired? does it operate as normal? what is the error it states? are you running a vpn? if so, have you tried to pause or disconnect to try? any pictures of your screen will be helpful. post back with findings for further assistance.
