Error message : "hard drive not installed"
My laptop is not working, when i switch it on, it keeps displaying an error message : “hard drive not installed”
jeshnee j …. this could be from an unseated drive or a failed one. i would open the device and ensure that the hard drive is seated properly. if so, i would run a disk check via your recovery menu. for better diagnostics help, please provide your model number. can find on the bottom of your device or under the battery.

@Jostewcrew...model number : dell inspiron 3593
..how to run disk check?
press f8 when booting up... should pop up an advanced mode option. from there can run a hard drive test. if its not f8 look at the bottom for a clue on what to press when booting up.
It is F12, for Diagnostics, on that model

I think probably unseated as people drop these things all the time.
Cheers
I agree with JOSTEWCREW as well. I to have had this issue with my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. If you are able to access UEFI/BIOS in advanced options you can poke around in there as well. On the dell.com website enter your Service Tag Number (and register if you haven’t already) and check out the posts there as well. You can find your service manual there and it will show you have to access and check your device’s hard drive and/or other possibilities for troubleshooting.
