I cannot get my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 to start properly and connect to WIF

I am trying to start my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2

switch on

eventually I get the password box

then it eventually comes up with the start up screen

but then it goes blank and whilst I can see the pointer nothing else turns up for over 15 mins

then the start up screen reappears but WIFI is not connected….yet the Surface Go that I am typing this out on is connecting perfectly to the WIFI….

does anyone have a suggestion of how to get out of this circular situation and actually fire up my laptop and connect to the internet…..Remember I cannot connect the Laptop to the WIFI
