Hard Drive isn't working after replacing my PSU?

Today my 1080TI came in the mail, and I installed a 750W EVGA PSU as well. When I boot up, I get an error message, and I realized this is because my hard drive isn’t working (which is where Windows is installed). I have checked my system and my SSD appears, but the HDD does not register to the computer. I can’t even use my PC, since I don’t have an OS. Please help me figure out how to get my HDD working, one thing I have heard is that it can get fried if you use the same cables from the old PSU, but I’m hoping this isn’t what it is.

It sounds like the +12V is missing. Make sure the voltage setting is correct, and re-check your connections.

If you have a meter, probe the power connector to the hard drive, with negative on the chassis (or a black wire). You should have +12V DC on the yellow wire, and +5V DC on the red.

Bottom line if it’s missing, either the power supply is bad, or shorted out.

Hi,

To add to the answer, use the paperclip test to check that all the voltages from the PSU are OK.
