Why does it take so long for my computer to turn on?
When I turn on my computer it will take 3o minutes to an hour to turn on? What do I do about this?

When you say "turn on" do you mean for the power light to come on or the booting up to Windows?
If booting up to the Windows desktop then either Windows is corrupted and needs a re-install or the the hard drive is defective.

When I push the on button, the button lights up but the screen remains black for about 30 minutes to an hour.

So you don't even get a loading screen?
Does Windows work O.K once it boots up? What version of Windows.
When one troubleshoots one has to eliminate the possible causes so I will have to ask you a series of questions.

If you have Win 10 installed try booting into safe mode and check if Windows loads more quickly.
If it does then you have a driver error or a startup problem.
Try performing a "Startup repair" and check if that resolves the problem.
Start the laptop as shown in the link and when you get to the Windows Recovery Environment menus, select "Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup repair' and follow the prompts.
Do not select "Reset this PC" because if you choose the wrong option after this you can erase all your data as Windows will be re-installed.

Hi Evan, A 5 year old laptop should not take that long to boot up. The problem is something else.
