So I took my MacBook Pro to Mexico and shortly after returning the mouse began to lag and dance around the screen.
Then after traveling to Dominican with my Macbook it shut down and wouldn’t turn on.
I attempted to take it to a store to fix it but they said they couldn’t do anything and the apple store said it would cost nearly $1,200 to fix it!
Would love any advice as I would really love to get this working again!

If you don’t like the idea of having it fixed by Apple you basically have three options:

If all else fails, don’t go to an Apple Store. Call them directly at 1-800-myapple. Ask for a “Flat Rate” repair. Tell them about the battery. It should ve a tier 2 repair and total costs will run right at $550. If they accept it (no liquid damage or major drops. They will fix any and all problems they find for the price.
The problem was that it wouldn’t boot and it went in as a battery replacement.
I just did this on a 2016 MBP two weeks ago. They ended up replacing the logic board, the display and the bottom cover all for the flat rate. Total time including ground FedEx shipping was 5 days. I now have a 90 days full warranty on it.
