Light Kit Center headlights don't work

I have a 1996 Club Car DS. (6 x 8v batteries). I have the madjax led upgrade light kit but cannot not get the center headlight to turn on. I have a 48/12 DC converter, which is working properly. I’m getting 12V to the constant, which is where I’m plugging the kit into. I can get everything on the light kit to work: hazards, brakes, turn signals, horn, etc. BUT… When I try to turn the main headlights by connecting the appropriate wires (blue to purple), all lights stop working. It’s almost like I’m touching a positive to a ground (blur). This should not be.

Now here’s what’s interesting - if I hook the light kit directly into a 12V battery, I have NO issues. Everything works OK. So, why is the 12V i’m getting directly off a 12V battery different than the 12v I’m getting off of the dc converter?
