MBPro Retina display glitching bad without having suffered impact

Dear people,

I write you in desperation because I’m in the middle of exams.

My MBPro Retina late 2013 display is glitching severely without apparent cause (such as impact, fall, liquids, etc.) My heart —and wallet— is broken, as I had already replaced the Display Assembly through the iFixIt store itself.

When I gently pressed the sides of the display, the problem was temporarily solved (1 minute), but now it happens again as a more distinct and periodic pattern: it flickers for 3 seconds and then 2 seconds and a half, a wave of ‘dark blur’ transverses the screen from right to left. Unfortunately, in the background I can see vertical lines that apparently mean hardware failure. These happen during the ‘wave’ phase. Herein I post two videos…

Please, tell me this can be fixed without having to buy another Display Assembly. I’m just a Uni student…

@gusguz - You'll need to make another set of recordings using your iPhone. All I see is an out of focus graphics. I don't see any dark blur issue.

How does the external monitor look? I would check things with it.

@danj Thanks for noticing that, Dan. I don't have an external monitor, but I'm afraid that if that screen video captured graphics just fine, then it is obviously a hardware problem, and I cross fingers that it can be solved by checking the video cables. This problem just started happening out of nowhere!

@gusguz - I’m thinking your display has a problem with its T-CON board. This is not a cable issue like we often saw with LVDS signaling used in the older unibody MacBook Pro’s. Your retina system uses iDP (also known as eDP)

The best way to think this is like how analog over the air signaling had ghosting and other wacky artifacts on the screen unlike the newer digital signaling the only thing you might see is a block effect where the signal got lost or the image froze up.

Update (12/01/2019)

While not cheap, its still a lot less than a new system MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Display Assembly and its not too difficult to do your self. Here's the guide MacBook Pro 15"(2013年末)(Retina显示器)屏幕组件更换

You stated you had bought the display from iFixit, I would give them a call to see if they will cover it under warranty.

Thanks for the feedback, @danj

This sounds like a serious issue; is it serviceable? Or am I stuck here with a faulty, very expensive display that can only be replaced or thrown to trash?
