Mid troubleshooting - water spillage on keyboard, no power!
Hey, this is my first post ever on a forum so please be forgiving if I've done something out of convention. Also pretty new to repairs but keen to get my geek on.
Two days ago I spat my drink out on my keyboard (no idea what was funny). It was a minute amount so I took no notice as it continued to work fine (I've now learnt my lesson, believe me) Two days later it refuses to power at all.
I've checked logic board and there was no sign of corrosion, however I did notice some slight sticky black residue of some sort, in a small area near the black plastic but that seats the fan(see photo below). I cleaned it with isopropayne and let it dry anyway.
Batteries working fine, so are the battery lights. Tried starting with magport charger and battery removed but still no power.
Been researching and trying numerous things like touching power pads on the circuit board which should apparently start the mac, didn't work (not sure what this ruled out either, but apparently it means something, any insight would be great)
The only relative bit of success I had was when I removed the battery, ensured the keyboard was connected to the logic board, and held the power button for 10 seconds before inserting the magsafe charger and leaving the power button held for 10 seconds. This activated the fan but nothing else would show and the computer wouldn't boot.
One more thing, a day after the spillage when it first went tits up, the computer was off. I went to boot it and it started, loaded to the apple screen midway loading through the progress bar, and then cut out. It did this several times before failing to power at all.
the fact that the battery lights, fan and mag charger port all work leads my prediction to the most obvious one, the keyboard (duh)
Can anyone help? Where do I go from here?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, you might save me my sanity.
