keyboard ribon wire replacement

I just removed and replaced a magsafe port on my nephew’s macbook pro 13” mid 2012. The port fix went great and is now fixed. While I was replacing the keyboard ribbon wire I noticed one of the pins on the motherboard was loose and disconnected. I was still trying to get the ribbon wire on when it ripped. I put the machine all back together and of course the keyboard does not respond. I know the pin needs to be resoldered but what kind iron or tip do I need? Also, is there a replacement ribbon wire for this macbook?

You may have opened a large can of worms here. You will probably have to replace the keyboard.

And the keyboard connector too if a pin is missing..I can't figure how one would be able to solder a single pin inside a plastic connector and see it working.

Thanks for your prompt response. But I see upon further inspection that it is the socket on the motherboard and not the ribbon wire. I'm guessing when he dropped the computer, which I found out by seeing the attachment loop for the battery shattered/gone and a dent in the cover, it had a hair line crack and when I was trying to put the connector in it split. Or I was not careful enough with my fat fingers. Any way my next question is there a place to get a replacement socket for the keyboard or is this computer shot?

A photo of the keyboard connector and cable would help a lot. Otherwise we are just assuming the keyboard connector is OK. Pins were mentioned so it sounds pretty bad from what I'm reading.

It's probably more than just keyboard might have gone bad.
