Battery wont hold charge after putting in SSD
So about two weeks ago I replaced my 2012 13” MacBook Pro with an new SSD, and also replaced my significant other’s Macbook Pro (same type) with an SSD.
After a week my Macbook showed an “Replace battery soon”, and I did an SMC reset and that was that - fixed.
My SO’s mac on the other hand, yesterday the macbook showed an “Replace now” warning, and every time she plugged out the power adapted, the mac would shut down.
The battery shows an 98% charge, and the power adapter light is green. Every time you unplug the power adapter the computer shuts down, and wont start without the adapter.
So, things i’ve tried: I’ve tried resetting the SMC, but it just wont reset, the charge light doesnt flicker, and it seems the SMC is not resetting. I’ve resetted the PRAM, but to no avail. I’ve opened up the mac and checked the charge coord, and everything is OK, no damage there. I’ve heard that after an SSD install the battery may need a negative discharge to decide its new voltage, so I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and held the power button down before powering, but same problem. I’ve tried a different charge coord, but nothing. Since my battery is fine after the SMC reset, im convinced its not a hardware issue, but she does have double the charge cycles than me soo..
Any tips? I’ve attached screens of coconutbattery.
