HP ipaq rx3715 factory resets every time I restart it

Hi all,

Whenever I power down my PDA, it factory resets itself. As in it forgets all of my settings, however I haven’t tested to see if it wipes the files too.

It might have something to do with the fact that it seems the only way to power it off is unplugging and removing the battery, and it therefore might not be saving the settings. (yes I tried holding the power button down, it just turns the screen off, doesnt actally power off).

Anybody know how to resolve this issue?

Also, I would like to know if there’s a correct way to shut it off. Thank you!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hmmm.....according to this blurb there is a switch associated with the battery cover. Apparently the unit will turn off if this switch isn't engage correctly by having the cover install correctly. Might want to try removing the cover rather than removing the battery to see if it is only going into sleep mode or if it really does go off and save your settings. Seems that whole family line only has a sleep mode function. Anyway just a thought

It has been a while since I had checked this post. It seems that it should not be resetting data whenever power is lost, it should only do that when it is hard reset. I think it may be a firmware issue but windows for some reason blocks the active sync program from installing because “it decreses system security”, and it seems windows is committed to keeping me from doing what I want.
