Trouble waking back up from sleep mode

I need urgent help here,

I have been facing this issue for the past three days. My MacBook Air when put to sleep for a prolonged period of time (more than 1.5 hours), it doesn’t wake up .

I have dealt with this four times. The first time it restarted with SMC reset (control+option+shift+power button). The second time it took 2 hours before the same SMC reset worked on it. The third time it took 4 hours before it woke back up. The fourth time I did (command+option+P+R while toggling power button) and then followed by SMC reset, that brought it back to life.

Then I immediately changed sleep settings (sleep -> never), disabled and re-enabled filevault and once again I performed the NVRAM and PRAM reset hoping that this would be the last time it goes dead.

Throughout the night, I kept checking at intervals of 2 hours whether my Mac would wake up or not. It was waking up, functioning properly.

But then again, it went dead. The battery is full charged and I even performed a clean reinstall of OS just yesterday.

It’s Sierra earlier now it is Mojave. I don’t know what is wrong. Is this a software or hardware issue? Once it boots up, it works perfectly fine.

Did you replace your flash drive by any chance ?

完成的

Flash drive as in external USB?

完成的

I did not replace anything. I did a clean reinstall of OS and changed sleep settings. That's all. I am positive that there was no liquid spill either. Simple google search is hinting at a dead SMC.

@Samarjeet Kaur Nope, I meant the internal Ssd. In case it was purchased used I'd check what is installed with Utilities/System information. If you had it since new from Apple just disregard my question.

Nope, didn't replace anything. I have had it since purchase. I purchased it in Nov, 2017

Lets check your battery and the MagSafe charger. install this gem of an app CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the main app window once with the MagSafe plugged in and a second with the MagSafe disconnected (wait a good 2min's before you do). Post both snapshots here for us to see 在已经存在的问题里加入图片

I wasn't able to turn it back on so I called a technician. He checked the insides and told me that there was a lot of carbon accumulation and that the logic board was shorted. According to him it was because I worked on my laptop while keeping it on my bed which hindered the cooling process. They have now taken it for repair.

Yes, if you block the cooling vents the system will overheat! Using it on a bed is also not smart as the blankets shed so the material gets inside jamming up the fans and coating the logic board which could damage it as well.

完成的

Yes, I understood that completely now. The repairmen have apparently repaired it now and they said that logic board was facing some issues, there was some shorting so they changed some chips and now they are saying that the battery has also gone bad. In fact they are saying that the battery caused all those problems so they are going to replace it with a new original battery. Any comments on that?

I had another question actually. Is the inbuilt battery health indicator feature always reliable? Because the last time I checked the cycles and status it showed “normal” and “466” cycles which was a good thing. But now these repairmen claim that the battery is kind of damaged, not entirely but yes it is creating problems and it won’t last much. So of course I am going ahead with getting it replaced although I do have an option of not getting it replaced right now. I just want to know what I’d be paying for.

I would get your system back ASAP this sounds very fishy!

Your system should need all of this work.
