1999 Honda accord taillight and dashlight won't work
The taillight and dashlight and interior lights won't come on , I tried putting a fuse in on the passenger left side and it just keeps blowing them instantly no matter what size the fuse is
Hi @kmolter ,
If the fuse keeps blowing it means that there is a short circuit to earth somewhere in the wires supplying power to the tail lights/interior light/dashlights.
This could be caused by the wire insulation being broken and the exposed wire is touching the frame of the car.
Check the wiring at the taillight assembly, both sides as best you can to make sure that it is alright, you’ll also have to remove the interior light assembly and check the wires there. Hopefully it is not in the instrument cluster
There is a small possibility that a bulb has gone short circuit so try removing the taillight bulbs and the interior light bulb and then check if the fuse holds. If it does, check that the dashlights work and if they do, replace the bulbs one at a time to see if the fuse blows or not. If it does then you’ve found the faulty bulb (or the socket perhaps)
Other than this you’ll need to use an Ohmmeter and start opening the wiring to try and isolate where the problem is.
If you find this too daunting, contact an auto electrician about the problem
