HP Officejet 7612 paper cannot be pushed in or fed by roller

Help! I bought a wide format printer back in 2015 to print 11 x 17 and it turned out to be a junker. Had lots of problems and just gave up playing with the $500+ machine. Had some time and I started trouble shooting and viewing the HP videos on paper not feeding. At one point, after cleaning all the rollers, they suggest pushing one sheet of paper in a bit deeper to see if it will catch the paper.

The problem is that it is impossible to push the paper in. There are two skinny white plastic arms with teeth/notches cut into them and once the paper hits one of those arms no amount of pushing will do anything but bend the paper. As if those rascals are supposed to be recessed when the paper starts to feed.

Any ideas? This boat anchor hasn’t had 100 pages ran through it I bet and is useless but too expensive to throw away without trying to find an answer.

Thanks

Al
