Not charging, battery indicator flashes 3 times

My laptop is no longer charging when plugged in and magsafe stays green. Laptop will boot but shut off after a few seconds of the Apple logo and the loading bar showing

Cleaned the magsafe adapter and the magsafe port on the laptop.

Reset the SMC, holding down “shift, option, command, and power” for 10 seconds.

Installed a new battery and bought another magsafe adapter today. Reset the SMC again. Laptop ran on the new battery but didn’t not charge. New battery is now drained. Battery indicator flashes 3 times when plugged in on either battery. Both magsafe adapters were plugged into different outlets and the magsafe stayed green on both.

Update: Here’s a few photos with it now running on just the adapter.

Are you using an 85W MagSafe 1 charger?

Also there are a lot of bad / faulty A1286 batteries out there.

No, my laptop came with an A1344 60w magsafe and I got another one at Best Buy today. The fact that neither battery charged, but that the new battery worked for a few hours until its charge finished seems to rule out the batteries and adapters as the issue.

My bad, I was thinking about the 15" MacBook, 60W charger is fine.

If you are able to turn on the system can you report to us the battery health? You can check this by using the Coconutbattery app which can be downloaded online.

The both magsafe adapters are original.

I can’t get it to fully boot.
