Did the boot-loop occur after the Audio IC repair or was the boot-loop the root issue and you tried an Audio IC repair to solve it?

If the Audio IC issue was the original problem, then I would remove the IC, inspect my work and probe the system for shorts. You may also have caused issues with the BB subsystem so you should probably check that too.

If the boot-loop was the original issue, then I would fully probe the PMIC and BBPMU to see if there are any issues with the various subsystems. At this point, you need to look for clues as there is no silver bullet “solution” (or some would say, “plz bro solution, 1000%”.

It seems from iPhone 7 onwards the "plz bro" solutions will be getting out of fashion as well as the labs who prospered with "U2 reball or replace". Things seem to be getting more complicated with bootloops and error 4013 involving plenty of different things and hours probing this and that.

@arbaman that's a great point. The days of "easy" repairs, with the exception of backlights and their ilk, are pretty much gone. In addition, the iPhone X brings with it added complexity due to the dual-layer logic board design.

I don't think the industry is ready for this yet but I have been questioning the No Fix/No Fee model. It's great for backlight repairs or "signature" failures, where there is a clear path to resolution and the "no fix" devices are few and far between. But it doesn't make nearly as much sense when you have to spend hours diagnosing obscure, "dead phone" issues, only to have to declare it "no fix". In theory, the easy repairs compensate for the harder ones but with repair prices being pressured downward and devices and issues becoming more complex, it starts to make less and less sense. At the end of a week, you can waste a significant amount of time on non-revenue producing "repairs". You don't see this in any other industry.

@refectio That's another great point..I surely agree with your view, my plumber asks for money just to come and see what the problem is, why shouldn't I, when he gives me his phone to repair ? There's work involved and nobody likes to work for free. Problem is, I believe, there's plenty of (fake?) videos around showing people who are all geniouses replacing all the main ICs of an iPhone in 15'. The impression is every smartphone related issue can be fixed with as much fun and ease as drinking a martini on a friday eve. I believe things will settle pretty soon by themselves..the 6 and 6S series are now selling so cheap they're mostly not worth of a board repair nowadays..i7 are troublesome starting from screen repairs already and I believe half of the "plz bro guys" will find other ways to make a living. Sooner than we think, no fix no fee will be a RIP topic..maybe we'll be forced to find a new job too, but I know better ways to spend half day of my life than working for an unknown person for free :)

@refectio BTW, I forgot to add that I'm already not taking up anything at all, Macs or iDevices that has liquid damage to work on, unless a basic fee is accepted beforehand..I had my share of time wasting and life is short..
