What brands of SSD's are compatible with my Mac Air 2017?

My MacAir came with 128GB SSD, but that’s not enough, so I want to upgrade it. However, I don’t know which brand/specs to look for in a bigger one. Apple Store in my town gave me a big hefty price for any upgrades on that department, but I’ve found ssds cheaper on Amazon, however I don’t know about compatibility since I don’t understand much about this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

So the SSD in here should be similar to that of early 2015, OWC drives are certainly compatible and are very easy to switch out, no extra work needed (follow the guide below). I personally have swapped mine for a Crucial 1TB M.2 NVMe drive, it works fine with an adapter (about $20) and I have had 0 issues and at about half the cost.

Some on iFixit, don’t like the adapter method for various reasons, but with High Sierra and onward the majority of the issues (hibernation issue for example) are no longer present. What ever option you chose the guide will walk you through doing the swap.

Thank you. I watched a couple videos and apparently I’ll need an adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QA7... and it should work with this ssd https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-500GB-SAT... (my model allows for 512 gb max, but that’s okay.

Thank you, again.
