iPhone 8 Plus gyro/accelerometer malfunctioning

Bought an iPhone 8 Plus secondhand with busted screen, replaced screen and all was working well, or so I thought. I noticed when I went into landscape mode for videos or games the screen wouldn't go back to portrait mode until I turned on portrait lock. After some research it seems my a sensor is malfunctioning. My compass, screen rotation, and raise to wake are all affected. I can't find any thread that describes a fix, and can't find the sensors on any website for purchase. Of course, the back of the phone is still cracked and the screen isn't OEM, therefore the warranty is voided even though it is an internal component that has failed. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does the phone look like it was water damaged in the past?

The reason I ask is that when a logic board is contaminated with water, a common approach is to put the board in an ultrasonic cleaner to get rid of all the corrosion. However, the ultrasonic cleaner tends to damage the motion sensors (gyro, accelerometer etc) and that will impact the compass app and the ability to auto-rotate. That’s why most shops will only do data recovery on water damaged devices.

So I would take a closer look at the logic board and look for signs of water damage (even if it is cleaned up, it will show to experienced eyes). You can always have this looked at by an experienced micro-solderer as well before investing too much money in a water damaged device.
