New battery says "Service" after just 4-5 months

Hey.

I have some problems with a mid 1466 macbook air and battery.

I replaced it with a brand new one, but allready after a few months it starts saying “battery needs service”.

Does it need a recalibration or SMC reset?

Anyone else have experienced this?

I have replaced battery and reset SMC. Shift ctrl alt power for 10 sec. Charger goes from orange to green to orange, as it should to confirm the reset.

Right now the Mac battery % and Coconut does not seem to agree the current charge in %

I wouldn't worry about the discrepancy. The OS value is just updated faster than what CoconutBattery is able to.

Other than that is the system stable?

Try recalibrating the battery. It probably is thinking it’s the old battery, even though you replaced it, so a recalibration should help. If not, try removing the battery, powering on the MacBook, shut down (safely!), and reinstall battery.

Good luck!

Thanks for answer. :)

Callibration = charge to 100% and leave plugged in for 2-3 hours more. drain battery and leave for 5 hours min. then charge full again?
