Samsung un55fh6200fxza red blinking light - shows logo then reboots

My Samsung un55fh6200fxza won’t properly boot up. It comes on, shows the logo for a second or two, then reboots. The red light on the front blinks 5 times, then repeats.

When I take off the back and plug it in, the backlight comes on.

I visually inspected the capacitors and don’t see anything out of the ordinary.

Any ideas what I should check next? I’m not super technical, so the more simple the explanation, the better chance I’ll understand it. ;)

Thanks!

Samsung does not officially support blink codes, so that won’t help us. I am a little stumped by this “When I take off the back and plug it in, the backlight comes on. “ Usually on Samsungs you can force the backlight on by disconnecting the cable from the power board to the main board. Since your backlight does come on it is most likely your main board that is not sending the signal or a failed t-con board. It is the power board the supplies power to the main board and it is the main board that turns everything on (very simplified). I suggest that you check the connectors on your power board with a multimeter against the values printed on the board. Let us know what values you get. Do not forget to check the T-con board (follow the flat ribbon cable coming of the main board. It should be going to the t-con board) and make sure it has power going to it. You can measure that on the fuse of that board. You should get around 12V DC on it.

Hi @oldturkey03 ,

Wondering if it is a firmware problem and perhaps reinstalling it might work?

The upgrade guide in this link say to insert the USB with the firmware and then turn on the TV wait a minute or so and then press menu etc etc.

So I'm thinking if it stays on long enough because it is using a different section of the boot process (I think that it might look for USB first on startup) that perhaps it can then be updated.

Don't know if it will accept same version firmware or not though

@jayeff you are absolutely right and a bad firmware is always a possibility. @cschaaf like @jayeff mentioned, go ahead and try an update.

Thank you @oldturkey03 and @jayeff

It appears we had some kind of surge. The XBOX One that was connected to that TV is also not powering up.

After leaving the TV unplugged for a few days, it powered and I could get to the SmartHub, but none of the inputs are working. It stayed powered up for about 5 minutes, then started the constant rebooting.

I tried updating the firmware via USB and it said it couldn't find a firmware on the USB drive. I don't think it 'sees' the USB port, either.

Voltages

Board info / voltage I got

B13v / 12.75

PWM_DIM / 3.4

B13v / 12.76

B13v / 12.75

V amp / 12.71

BLU On/off / 2.96

V amp / 12.75

GND / 0

GND / 0

GND / 0

B5v / 5.32

A5V / 5.32

B5v / 5.32

14 / PS On/Off / 3.15

I'm not sure where to check on the T-con board. I don't see a fuse - or at least what I think of as a fuse.I do get 2 small blue lights on the T-con, so it's getting _some_ power. I will try to add a picture of the T-con to the original post.
