Left Joy Con no longer connects after water spill

I spilt water on my switch.  The switch is mostly fine, it wasn’t that much water but the Left joy con no longer connects to the switch when attached, although it will attach wirelessly.  The battery is dead, presumably drained by being shorted by the water contact.

Now, looking at repairs, how does the joy con attach to the switch.  Am I looking at simply replacing the TI BQ24072 as this does the charging for the battery.
