New 3ds game will not load

Hello, I have this problem with my 3ds I have had for a while now and I just bought a new copy of super smash 4 and when I put it into the console it pops up and is reading it but when I press “a” it loads and then puts me at a blank screen, the game is new so obviously it is not that I looked in the game port and it looks ok to me…..help
