Screen is now 3/4 black, no falls or damage
Laptop is only a few months old (bought may 2018) and has never been dropped etc. When laptop is turned on the screen produces this..

Sorry guy your display is gone.
Apple is had issues with the ribbon cables between the LCD panel and the T-CON board which is within the main case. Here’s a good breakdown of the connections:
You’ll need to visit an Apple Store to see if you can get it repaired under extended warranty (warranty exception). If you’re lucky you live in a country which has a two year warranty requirement or you have Apple+ service contract thats still valid. Otherwise you’ll need to fork-over $700 USD to get the display assembly replaced.

(bought may 2018) it's under warranty now, but I would consider getting an AppleCare extended 2 year warranty on any product you have to get repaired in the first year.
