Truck died and won’t start again.

Started our Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, drove 50 feet, started idling low and died. And then wouldn’t restart. Battery is brand new and so is alternator. Wont even attempt to crank at all.

That sounds like either a low battery or a bad connection somewhere in the battery cables. Set your meter to DC volts and measure the battery voltage. You should have 12.6 V, any less than that could cause a no cranking situation. If it's low, you'll need to charge the battery. If it’s brand new it should hold a charge, which makes me think it’s more likely a bad connection. If your battery voltage is correct, be sure the terminals are tight and that there is no corrosion. Then measure voltage with your leads on the terminals themselves rather than the battery posts. If you have less voltage here than when measuring on the battery posts, your connection between the posts and the terminals isn’t good enough. If the voltage here looks ok, measure again with the red lead of your meter on the starter end of the red battery cable and the black on chassis ground. Again, you should have battery voltage here. If not your battery cable has high resistance and will probably need to be replaced. Measure the voltage at these points and let me know what you get. I’ll try and guide you from there. Good luck!
