I can't get any sign of power at all, kinda...

So I have a 2009 13” macbook pro, and it won’t power on at all.

If I plug in a Magsafe charger in to the laptop which I know works as I use it regularly on my 2008 White Macbook, I get a very dim light that cannot be seen unless I cover the charger with my hand.

I know the logic board is getting power because I think I accidentally short circuited a fuse (I think that’s what it is, It’s labeled 33 C95.) with my multimeter when checking voltages (Sparks EVERYWHERE.), but I can solder in a new one if needed.

Unplugging the battery for a half hour did nothing, resetting the CSM did the same.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, from Jon.

Sorry guy, you did a bit more damage than a fuse here. You’ved damaged the power control logic on the logic board. There is a set of MOSFET’s that control the voltage coming from the MagSafe connector to both the battery and the system.

At this point I think you’ll need to find some one with the needed skills to try to fix your logic board or just replace it following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 Logic Board Replacement. I think it’s a toss up as the cost of the logic board will be about the same getting you logic board fixed.

Kind of a really late answer here. I fixed this MacBook a couple years later when I was less of a dumb kid. I used a boardview file and schematic to track where the voltage was on the board and found that one of the through holes on the one wire circuit was corroded through due to moisture getting inside through the fan vent. I ran a jumper wire between the two chips to fix it. I have absolutely no clue how I didn’t fry those mosfets or something else in my stupidity but it’s been working since around 2020.
