television shut off can not come back on

There is little information provided for us to help. Can you please update this with the following:
1) Make and model of the TV.
2) It there a standby light on the TV?
3) If you attempt to turn on the set, do you get sound but no picture or nothing?
Once these are answered, we should be able to provide some guidance.
