iPhone 5s has a vertical unresponsive line after screen replacement.

My iPhone 5s display had some randomly appearing ghosting issues after the battery replacement so I replaced also the display but afterwards I had an unresponsive vertical line of about 5 mm in about the middle of the screen. The rest of the digitizer area and display works fine though.

I checked with a second replacement Display and it had the same problem.

But when switching back to the original display, the display and digitizer works fine. Expect that at sometimes the ghosting appears.

Anyone with similar issues? Could it be a problem with the connector of the new displays? But I don't understand why the original does not have this problem.

I tested a bit more and the unresponsive line appears after a few minutes after restart of the phone. Before everything works but then a small portion of the digitizer stays unresponsive till the next restart. Maybe some kind of potential is build which causes malfunction is a certain part of the digitizer?

Hi Andi

My first thoughts about this screen issue is that when you replaced your battery maybe your screen got damaged in some kind of way. For instance, when repairing iPhones the screen should not open more than 90° from the housing because this may stretch the flex cables.

Another possibility is that the screen hasn't been connected properly. For the new screens you tried this may also be the case with those, but also if the screens are from third party manufactures they may not be as good quality and you have just been unlucky with two defect iPhone screens.

If this isn't the case either then they may be problems with the connectors on the logic board or other components.

Thanks for your reply. It seems it is a problem with the logic board or some insulation to it. I could not figure it out up to now.
