Xbox 1s controller not turning ON

My two Xbox one S controllers are not turning ON ---- tried replacing batteries --- changing USB cables. One unit got this issue 3 weeks ago and 2 days ago another controller also gone. I noticed there is a heating on the controller if plugged to power source for some time. Is it a hardware issue? Please advise.
