Removed tubs to replace the seal. The top of the transmission is rusted badly, however it was working fine before teardown. Can I replace just the cover and the gear bearings to prevent further damage? Any other parts needed? Model 110.82984100 Heavy Duty Kenmore series 80

Never mind I realized tgat this part that is rusted is not part of the transmission at all. It is the tub spinner base. I will have to order a new one because the post where the seal sits is rusted. The new seal will leak again due to this rusted part. Thanks but I answered my iwn question. Glad the transmission was not involved in the rust issue.
