This poor thing literally froze to death, what needs to be replaced?
My nano sat in the car during sub zero temps (-10 to -20°F) for a few weeks and now isn't even recognized when I plug it in. Dead as a doornail.
Question is, will I need to replace both the battery and display or is the battery alone going to be enough? Anything else in there that might have been damaged by low temps?

Thanks Jerry, but this puppy was back to room temp for days and I attempted to charge it both from a Mac and from a wall charger... nothing happens, it just remains black. Was in perfect shape before this happened. So you guys think it isn't the battery?

That would be my biggest contender. Start of with the battery and trouble shoot from there if needed. Good Luck.

Just bear in mind that the battery is soldered to the logic board. It's cheaper, but if you don't do soldering, it might be better just to replace both anyway. The boards sold here come with a battery pre-soldered to them as part of the price. (Click on the "Parts" link below the device image on the right.)
