Battery not charging, not detected in OS.

Hi!

I recently took out my sshd to test another hard drive / cable. Before I unplugged the harddrive, I unplugged my battery from the main board.

Upon reinstall of my harddrive and reconnected the battery, the battery no longer is detected.

I recently noticed that my battery indicator on the left side of my MacBook Pro Mid 2011 13 Inch Unibody is no longer working either. The laptop will only work when plugged in.

The battery is not detected when I go to system / power.

I have ordered a new battery from IFixit and no success. I have tried the SMC reset and all the other reset procedures but nothing. I’m out of ideas.

There was no water damage or other issues before.

Disconnect the battery tester ribbon cable and see if the system works that way.

Yes the computer works when the battery ribbon is disconnected and computer is connected with the MagSafe charger.

So I disconnected the ribbon cable that is next to the battery plug. The laptop works still. So what does that mean?

Just so I'm sure here, this is the ribbon cable you needed to detach marked in Green:

If that made a difference then you have a bad tester which is just behind the battery.

Sorry, I’ve been busy with school and homework. I disconnected that circled part and the laptop still works when plugged in.

There may have been a static discharge if it wasn’t grounded properly, which could lead to a slew of issues.

Try to see if the dc magnetic safe inboard has gone bad. When I replaced my battery, I had a similar issue.

Hope this helps! Let me know if it fixed it or not.

I had the computer on a desk but did not have an anti static strap on. I’ll have to check the MagSafe strip.
