Why my bluetooth speaker doesn't charge/work?

I owe a huawei speaker that I just got about 1 year ago. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem working now. It can't be used. Here's the problem.

About 2 days ago, I went to my hometown. I used it until it ran out of battery. Then I plugged it with its charger as usual but this time, the small red light that had always appeared during charging, went flashing. After couple hours I wanted to use it again but when I switched it on, it didn't work. I didn't hear any turning on sound at all. I think it could be because the battery didn't charge. However, when I plugged in the charger and switched on, it worked just like usual.

I'm really wondering "why".

Can anyone help me?

What can i do?

Any suggestion?

I also have problem with my speaker CM-51. I just let it connected to the laptop thru Bluetooth. When i came back the speaker is already off and not charging and not turning on even if i already let it charged for couple of hours.

Do you solve the problem of CM51? I also have the same problem with my speaker after 2 minutes the red light will disappear.

This is a battery problem or the connector that fits into the speaker from the charger may not be making proper contact. I am trying to find a source to purchase the battery but cannot find one. Does anyone know.

Hi @vann3th ,

Was the red light still flashing just before you went to try it?

If so then perhaps the battery didn't charge because it may have been discharged too far.

Try the following:

Connect it to the charger and leave it on for 3-4 hours to see if the red light changes from a flashing light to a steady light.

Sometimes it takes a while for the battery to "kick in" again and begin charging again after it has been discharged too far.

If it still doesn't charge after this then perhaps the battery has failed and needs to be replaced.

Verify how long that you've had the speaker, just to see if it may still be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Check the warranty statement to see that the battery is also covered for the same amount of time as the rest of the speaker as sometimes with certain devices (and manufacturer's and location) it is not.

Hi @jayeff,

You mean was the light still flashing before I unplugged? Umm yes. It flashed the whole time when it was charging.

I also tried charging it like 4/5 hours but it didn't work.

May that be because of the lack of electricity or something? Like I said, I came to my hometown which is at countryside. The electricity may be not strong enough perhaps... I don't know, I'm not good in this. Now I'm still here at hometown and I'll see if it works when i'm back to city.

Hi @winterchew520,

Here’s a video that shows how to open the speaker so that access to the battery is possible. I suggest that you use a broader tool such as a paint scraper (old credit card?) rather than a screwdriver or other more pointed tools to pry off the cover as shown in the video, so as to lessen the cosmetic damage.

Here’s an image taken from the video that shows the battery. To make it easier, unplug the speaker connection from the motherboard and then undo the screws holding down the motherboard.

I can’t make it out from the video, but the battery information should be printed on the battery giving the dimensions of the battery, the capacity in mAH and the voltage and sometimes the actual part number.

Searching online for Huawei CM51 battery gives no results. You may have better luck by searching for the part number if there is one

If you can’t find an exact replacement battery by using the part number (if it is there), look for an equivalent battery by searching for (insert dimension “number”) (insert voltage value) (insert mAH value) LiPo battery. If there are none for the exact dimensions etc search for a similar but slightly smaller size (especially the depth, as it has to fit) but ensure that the voltage is the same value and hopefully that the mAH is the same or better.

e.g. if battery values are 305050 3.8V 700mAH and there are none available, look for a 254040 3.8V 700mAH and check results.

I do not know what the dimensions and the voltage values of the battery are in the speaker, although I have found out that the battery capacity is 700mAH The above is just an example of what to try when searching for a replacement

With the dimensions, usually it is shown as a 6 digit number. The convention is that the 1st 2 digits of the number is the height (or depth) in mm with a decimal point (which is not shown), the next 2 digits is the length in mm and the last two digits is the width in mm e.g. 254040 = 2.5mm H x 40mm L x 40mm W

Pressing the tiny button in the “RESET” hole, next to the charging port, solved mine.

Use a pin-needle to press it, or preferably something slightly blunter.
