Can I Use My Road Bike's Cassette as a Fixed Gear (Crazy, Right?)

So, I've been cycling around the world for the past 4 years (overexaggeration, I stop places and live for a while) and I just landed in China and found the frame bent to a perpendicular angle.

Thanks Airasia.

Anyway, the derailleur is bent and ruined and I'm in a location where there are no bike repair shops or supplies to make the fix.

What I'm thinking is to remove a few links from my chain and choose one of the sprockets on the cassette to make it a fixed gear.

Is this feasible?

I'll be testing this in a couple days, but I'd love to hear what you guys think, maybe a few words of warning, or encouragement that this is actually possible (or has been done before).

Thanks everyone!

That sounds feasible, never having tried such a stunt personally. I suppose the trick will be getting the chain resectioned to a workable length for your desired gear selection. How did it work out for you?
