CPU fan makes loud noise when spinning

I don't exactly know what type of CPU fan I have but whenever I try to play games and the fan starts to spin faster, it makes a loud noise. I have cleaned out the fan with some compressed air to see fit that would work and although it quieted it a little bit the noise has still not gone away. This has caused me to have to downgrade in some games in order to play them and even then it causes me lag and dropped frames. I checked the graphics card and everything seemed alright there and as far as I know everything is up to date. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

@babygiraffe this sounds like a fan going bad. Replace the fan to eliminate the excessive noise.

I don't know what fan I should replace it with, I built the computer back in I think it was 2015 and it's been going fine until just recently. Is there any way to check what kind of fan I need?

What processor is it and what motherboard is it? Any markings on the fan itself? Post some pictures of your board, heatsink and fan with your question. Use this guide 在已经存在的问题里加入图片 for that.

Your issue does not sound like a processor at all. It sounds like it gets hot because of the fan and not because of the CPU. You are most likely using all the processing power for your gaming which cause your fan to work harder and thus wearing out. If it would be a processor damage, your computer would shut off. This "causes me lag and dropped frames." can be caused by overheating.

If this is the intel stock cooler then the CPU cooler would need to be replaced.

Hyper evo 212 / Cryorig h7 is what I recommend.

I don't think that my computer case would be able to fit either of those, the current fan I have on it right now lies directly on top of the cpu.

Do you think that I should replace the whole cpu or would I just be able to replace the fan? I don't have much money at the moment.

Is there any way to check this as well? Although I've had my computer for a while I'm still basically a newbie when it comes to parts and software.

How to know when a website is mining cryptocurrency

So with all of this happening in the background, how could you possibly know when your computer is being used for mining? The easiest way is to keep an eye on your CPU usage.

In Windows, right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager. Open the Performance tab.

In MacOS, open Activity Monitor by searching for it with Spotlight (pressing Command + Spacebar) or by going to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor. Once open, click the CPU tab. Total CPU usage in MacOS is the sum of system and user usages.

With a pop-under, closing the browser will not stop the mining, since a hidden tab will still be open. Instead, you will have to use Task Manager to completely quit the browser. If you notice a significant drop in CPU usage then, it's likely your computer was affected by a sneaky mining script.

How to stop sites from using your CPU to mine

As mentioned above, not all mining is bad, especially if a website is upfront about it. In fact, you may want to support a website with mining instead of viewing ads — it's a pretty fair trade-off.
