Stuck on the Processing screen after SD card inserted.

My Polaroid SNAP gets stuck on the processing screen but only when I have an SD card inserted. If I remove the SD card it allows me to take and print photos (but can only take 13 before space fills up and the camera tells me to add a SD card). I have a 4GB Micro SD card that is empty, and works fine in a phone or connected to the pc. When connecting my Polaroid to my laptop, with the SD (a MacBook) it is also not recognised so cannot update the firmware.

I'd like to know a root cause for this issue, before I go and buy another new SD card as would like to be able to take more than 13 photos, before I have to delete some.
