You also can subscribe to the Ring protection plus plan which includes an extended warranty if you do so within the original warranty period. Otherwise, be prepared to repair the unit every ~18 months as the internal LiPo battery gives out. Here is a relevant reddit thread on the subject that includes additional information:

The problem is very simply the internal battery. If you find a 3.7v 200mah to 300mah battery, you can transplant the battery protection circuit from the old cell to the new one and replace.

ANY LiPO cell will work as long as the type is 602025 (60mm X 20mm X 25mm), and the milliamp hour rating is between 200 and 300mah.

There’s a guide right here on iFixit that will assist you in doing this.

I just bought a Ring Pro today and was searching for help with a set up problem I was having. I noticed many Ring Pro users with the same problem you had. After digging-in a little, it became apparent that complete failure is normal for the Ring Pro at about the one year point and probably unavoidable. The culprit seems to be a tiny non-replaceable lithium system battery inside the Ring Pro. Once this battery dies, the Ring Pro shuts down completely, never to start again. Lithium batteries don’t tolerate temperature extremes well, so it seems like a bad choice on the part of Ring designers. You can read a lot more on this issue at Reddit.com.

I've had my ring for almost two years. It died, no lights...nothing. I called and they replaced my device, no problem no hassle.

I would die for the number you called for a replacement for a out of warranty Ring Pro .....I have done extensive research on why my $250 ring door pro went dead after 18 months, I have called every Ring doorbell company number ever noted, with no prevail, the Ring Support is the biggest joke in business(I have called them at least 6 times), they read to their customers(and if you can understand them)going down the by the numbers like a robot how to try to fi x it.(and they will never, ever say that the internal battery has gone dead)

Ring knows this is a problem, and should replace all that are infected, free of charge...

I had a similar issue with my ring door bell pro that I had for 2 years. It was working fine until one day it completely went dark, no lights, and unable to reset in order to turn on. I contacted ring and spoke with Michelle, who was very professional, kind, and helpful. She offered to send a new ring door bell pro. Amazing customer service in an unfortunate situation.

I have also had mine for two years and it died 12/2019. I have read several of these posts and hypothesize that they must done an update that fried several of the older ring pro’s.

If the doorbell gets stick in a loop, with only the top blue light (not the whole ring) flickering every one sec. Is that an battery issue as well or could that be the capacitor gone bad?
