Why some keys not working on keyboard after battery repair?

After I installed the battery, the left shift and fn key do not work anymore and the caps lock light does not turn on.

You should have whomever did the battery replacement open the computer up and check 2 things:

a) is the battery swollen or pressing hard on part of the hard drive

b) is the cable connected properly to the logic board, or is there damage to the keyboard's cable.

I had a similar problem - I had my battery (& keyboard) replaced on my Macbook Pro 13” (2015). When I got it back, none of the function keys works (brightness, volume controls, etc.). Resetting PRAM/NVRAM, resetting SMC, unchecking the “Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” in Keyboard preferences: none of these worked.

I read in another bboard a solution that worked for me: https://apple.stackexchange.com/question...

It’s a “Key-remapping issue” (I admit I don’t quite understand it fully). But download Karabiner https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/ – you’ll have to give it some permissions; open it up and simply quit out. Now your keys should be mapped correctly.
