Hi there,
I've had my MacBook for about a year now and just as of an hour ago my screen continues to have horizontal lines running through at certain angles.
There is a small crack next to the MacBook pro logo but that has been there for over 6 months
Can someone please advise me for what is the best course of action??

Sadly that bang "crack next to the MacBook pro logo" finally weakened the connections within the display.
To be sure you'll need to connect up an external monitor to see if the problem shows up there. If it doesn't then you have the proof the display is in trouble. If the external monitor shows the same pattern then the logic board has issues.

Thanks for that Dan. Really appreciate the slight ease of mind now. Would you happen to know where I can repair this in Australia or anything else I can do about it?
It's quite unfortunate as I have taken the greatest care with it and still from just opening and closing it, that it could end up in this state :(
I think your only choice is right now is Apple as the parts for this system are still on the tight side even here in the states. Surprisingly Apples pricing isn't to bad.
How much roughly would you think it'll cost?
I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro with tb and just had the screen replaced for the exact same fault ! bear in mind mine didn't have any cracks, luckily mine was under warranty but the repair estimate stated I would've paid £332 including labour.
