Why do the settings of the normal cycle has changed a few times

I have an older series 300 top loading see thru door.. But my settings on normal was mode is on hot and cold wash temp/rinse temp, max extract spin speed, and heavy stains soil level i know it wasnt all maxed out on normal but now it stays those modifiers i know normal was more like warm and cold or cold cold, and medium spin speed and medium soil level.. I know i can change them each load but it normally would go back to normal now all settings r different when i go to normal mode.. So i dont know why that is...
